Today, we are excited to announce the launch of the Urban Teacher Recruitment Grant: $100,000 to support teacher and school leader recruitment efforts at high needs PK-12 schools with demonstrated financial hardship due to COVID-19.
Up to 20 grantees will receive an invite credit balance of $5,000 or $10,000 to connect with their own pre-vetted, curated pool of teachers and school leaders on Selected. Applying schools must serve students in at least one of the regions where Selected operates.

The focus of our work since our founding has been to help all schools, particularly those in high need communities, find right-fit teachers through more purposeful matching. On Selected, schools connect with a pre-vetted, responsive pool of candidates who are aligned with the characteristics of the school -- expediting the sourcing and selection process for both parties, and drastically reducing the traditional costs of sourcing and recruiting top candidates.
All schools in the regions Selected serves, regardless of size and student population, are entitled to a free employer account and $550 in free invite credits -- enough to contact 15 teachers and school leaders risk-free. Now, given the additional budget and operational uncertainty presented by COVID-19, our Urban Teacher Recruitment Grant aims to do even more for the schools most impacted.
Our goal is to expand the grant program to support up to 100 schools and is looking to partner with sponsors to achieve this goal. Recruiting qualified teachers is a common challenge for urban schools, but due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, we need to do more to help our schools and communities.
